Traffic

I swear people just do not know how to drive! I'm slowly losing my patience when it comes to driving over here. Especially during rush hour or over the weekends. Slow-moving gridlock traffic jams, other drivers driving too slow or not knowing where and which lane they should be in (or when they finally realize that they should be in a particular lane and they take their time trying to get into the right lane), road construction, and the worst of all, drivers whom cut in front of you without giving any signal.

Yesterday I left the office around 5.45pm, with the hope that if I waited abit and not leave right at 5pm, I might have a smooth drive back home. How wrong I was! It was just the same. My office building is right in front of Ala Moana mall, so the route that I usually take is via Kona Street then left onto Piikoi Street towards Makiki. Piikoi Street is basically one busy street because once you past Kinau Street, the right lane is used to get onto the eastbound H-1 Freeway and the left lane is for the westbound H-1 Freeway. Also the traffic lights don't seem to synchronize with each other. You'll notice cars moving when it turns red and not move at all when it's green. Crazy I say!

Anywaes...yesterday as I was driving along Piikoi Street, there was this grey Honda in front of me at the speed of about 5 miles (the speed limit on Piikoi is 25 miles/hour). He was by himself. It looks like he wasn't sure where he needed to go. He kept looking to his right so I guess he wanted to get into the right lane but was waiting for the right moment. With that...he was slowing traffic on our lane. Since I was in no hurry, I just followed him but what made me start to lose my patience was that he kept stepping on his brakes frequently and he was still going about 5-10 miles. Finally he decides to turn right but there was a long line of cars built up already as it was still red at the stop light. In my lane, there was like a space of four cars wide open in front of him and I could not go around coz he was only half way out and cars from the left lane was cutting in front of me. FCUK! Finally as I pass him, I get these other 2 cars from the right lane cut in front me suddenly (without any notice) and I had to step hard on my brakes so I didn't hit one of them from the back. D@mnit! As I drive up to the stop light by Young Street, slowly traffic comes to a gridlock. You have cars trying to turn either left or right on Piikoi from Young but cannot because of 2 impatient drivers whom did not want to wait decided to run the red light and block traffic. We didn't move even when our lights turn green because some idiot in front of those impatient drivers was trying to switch lanes and he/she wasn't paying attention and did not move! How can you not develop "road rage" with absent-minded people driving like that? I finally get home and instead of getting out of the car immediately, I just sat there; listening to Limp Bizkit & Jay-Z's "NUMB ENCORE" (which was on repeat since leaving the office) with the volume turned up! Too bad I no longer have "Twisted Metal" on PS2 because that would have totally made my day...lol

Argh...I'm probably going to experience the same thing today!
