yes, I had another fun-filling Saturday with good eats and great company. The day started when I met up with Ritsuko to go have lunch at Green Door Cafe again. I was under the assumption that Chef Betty changes the menu on a daily basis but when we checked her whiteboard of dishes, it had the same exact dishes when we were there the last time. I'd read she cooked a mean (yummy) laksa (noodles with spicy soup) dish in one of the magazine reviews and wanted to have a try myself! We ordered the chicken curry again (extra spicy), Nyonya style fresh mushroom and tofu with a pinch of sambal flavored sauce (a little spicy) with rice and roti canai (Indian flat bread). Total heaven but this time around...I admit my taste buds could not handle the spiciness! Thank you Aunt Betty though for offering us a beverage of refreshing apple cider juice to cut down the spiciness.
Next we took a short cruise through Hawaii Kai, Diamond Head and Waikiki.
Upon reaching home around 4pm, I get a call from R (who had just gotten off work) to inform me that we will be having dinner with his dad, uncle and Grandpa at Gyotaku in Waimalu. I was still full from lunch and wondered if I would be able to eat or even consume every last bite of my order. We arrived early...so I as usual sarted to take pictures of my surroundings. I had the miso butterfish teishoku, while R had the Rib Eye Steak with tempura.
