Belated Wishes
Yesterday was the fifteenth day, the day marking the end of the Chinese New Year celebrations. In Malaysia, this day is known as Chap Goh Mei. On a celebratory point of view, this night sees the gathering of family members as they sit down to a meal together. Offerings and prayers are also held on a grand scale on this particular night. Sometimes a chinese cultural performance is held with pretty lantern displays and lion dances in the evening to end the Chap Goh Mei celebrations. Aside from being tagged as the last day, Chap Goh Mei is also known as the Chinese Valentine's Day ~ a day, whereby young women, will head to the nearby river and throw mandarin oranges so that their wish will come true (that their future spouse will pick the orange up). However, in modern day setting, this tradition is dying fast. Below is a lion dance video I was able to record on my digital camera when I was at the Hilton Hawaiian Village for CNY two weekends ago. Enjoy!
and...I do mean Welcome! Selamat Datang! Aloha! I extend a warm welcome and am glad that you could stop by and read my blog. It simply contains general musings and ramblings about things that concern and/or interest me.
So kick back, click away and don't forget...enjoy your visit!
"So you want to know me? Romantic and logical ~ Loyal and always true ~ Funloving crazy and very quiet when needed ~ Sensible and down to earth...to sum it up, I guess I'm pretty much a "nice girl", hopefully in a good way, who's also a bit of a geek"
Here I am as perfect as I'm ever going to be.
You'll see, love me for me.
Stick around, I'm not the kind of girl you wanna leave.
You'll see, love me for me.
