So I'm taking a little time off from studying. I think I deserve to get some time as whatever I'm reading from my thick Accounting textbook is no longer sticking in my head. What's an asset and what's a liability? *grins*
Mooncakes and tanglung
Friday, we celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival; also known as the Mooncake or Lantern Festival and it is one of the two most important holidays in the Chinese Lunar calendar (the other being the Lunar New Year). I remember celebrating this festival when I was back home in KL ~ shopping around with my mom to pick the best lantern and later gathering with family and close friends to feast on the mooncakes and play with the other kids and see who has the best, brightest lit lanterns! I admit I don't really enjoy eating the whole mooncake as I will only eat the crust and some parts of the filling...either egg yolk or red bean paste. Yum!
Thai good eats
I had a lunch date with Ritsuko and we decide to try this Thai place in town called Pae Thai. I've driven by it so many times but never did realize or take notice that it was actually a restaurant, let alone a Thai restaurant. We get there a little past 1pm and just in time for lunch as they close at 2pm and then re-open for dinner at 5pm. The interior inside is very nice and filled with plenty colorful paintings, Thai figurines and even a small fish pond.
From the menu, we proceed to order vegetarian spring rolls as our appertizer, hot and spicy noodles with pork and spicy yellow curry with chicken as our entrees with a side order of white Jasmine rice. The food was delicious and it arrived quickly at the table and the service here was good! Their prices are reasonable and I probably would come here again.
Daiei no more
After lunch, Ritsuko and I made a quick pit stop at Don Quijote to pick up some essentials. The store had close for 2 days in order to prepare for its grand opening on Friday and when I got to the parking lot...I was wondering if I'd made a mistake to actually to shop there. I was curious to check them out and I've never seen their parking lot this full...ever...so I was happy when a parking stall open up. I'd shopped at Daiei (previously known as Holiday Mart) rather frequently in the past but they have been bought out and now officially known as Don Quijote. Don Quijote is one of Japan's major retailers, with more than 120 stores in Japan. Inside...the atmoshpere is new, colorful and very junglelike as you'll see alot of vines, flowers, flags all over hanging down from the ceiling.
