Culinary Adventures

My habit of eating well while seizing the day. Here's a showcase of small sampling of some of the many yummy, exotic and exciting Malaysian cuisine that I was able to savor. Enjoy!

Bihun Goreng Hokkien Mee Nasi Goreng Stewed Pork on rice Sar Ho Fun Dry Claypot Noodles Claypot Noodles in Soup Kon Low Wanton Noodles Chicken Claypot Rice Chee Cheong Funn Popiah Hi-Tea Buffet food selection @ Legend Hotel Hi-Tea Buffet food selection @ Legend Hotel Fried Seafood Vercimilli Noodles Tofu with Mixed Vegetables & Mushrooms Steamed Fish Kangkung Belacan Dry Wanton Noodles with Char Siew and Duck Shark Fin's Soup Yummy Suckling Pig Roasted Chicken Rice Char Kuew Teow Beef Ball Noodles

There were others as well; but because I didn't have my camera on me so I was not able to take pictures and they include; Nasi Lemak [rice cooked in santan served with anchovies, squid, eggs, cucumber and sambal (chili paste)], the famous mamak Maggi Mee Goreng [instant fried noodles perfected by the indian-mamaks...best eaten for supper ~ after a night out drinking], Roti Canai [a kind of pancake prepared with wheat flour, eggs, ghee/butter, and served hot with curry or dhal], Satay [Marinated beef or chicken pieces in skewers are barbecued over charcoal and eaten after dipping into a sweet and spicy peanut sauce. It can also be served with ketupat (rice cubes wrapped in palm leaves) and cucumber], Assam Laksa [A special from Penang consisting of thick rice noodles in a spicy and sour fish-based soup with pineapple, cucumber and onions] Ice Kacang [A colourful concoction of jelly cubes, red beans, creamed corn and peanuts topped with shaved ice, rose strup and evaporated milk], Cendol [Shaved ice, coconut milk, brown sugar/gula melaka and the stringy greenish strands are made from green bean flour mixed with pandan/screwpine leaves], Yong Tau Foo [Fish paste stuffed into items like smooth taufoo, ladies fingers, fried taufoo, chillies or sliced brinjals/eggplants] and many more...

The pictures above may not do justice to the real taste of Malaysian food - but this shows you my beloved country's famous cuisines. When opportunity arises, try it! A word of caution though? Not many can stomach the fierce mixture of greasy, spicy, and strong tasting ingredients found in most Malaysian dishes. But it'll be worth it. Trust me?
