As an exercise in lethal dementia it derives its kicks from a clever play on life and death choices and a relentless exploitation of push-come-to-shove human motivation. In other words, if it's a matter of my death or yours, I'll do what it takes to survive. The rules? They're set by a psychotic genius.
So we watched SAW last night after dinner. Being that it was a horror movie, we watched in the dark (with one lamp in the bedroom turned on). I won't go into details but I can say it was really creepy and twisted. The movie builds suspense by revealing its secrets slowly and had me guessing right up until the end. The story is well thought out. We are shown glimpses of the killer. It's one of those movies you wish you could forget but it's one that's hard not to because of the genuinely disturbing images. Yes, I must admit...I did have some trouble sleeping because every "thud", "swish", "bang", "knock", "clung" sounds had me looking around the bedroom. Even the silence was disturbing! If you like your movies dark and twisted and don't mind suspending your sense of disbelief for a little while, then Saw could be the movie for you. YOU JUST HAVE TO SEE THIS MOVIE PERIOD!
