so after a hearty meal, all I wanted to do was to go to the nearest beach...lay out on the beach mat and simply soak up the sun! But being that we were on our way to visit Ryan's grandpa and also had a takeout order of one shrimp plate, we continued on with our excursion to Waialua.
We pass Turtle Bay Resort along the way. It offers a wide range of activities like hiking, snorkeling, tennis and golf. Speaking of golf, I was told that it is the only resort on Oahu with 36 holes of championship golf: the Fazio and Palmer courses. I do not golf but have been there a couple times with friends to play "caddy" and once to watch the Senior PGA Tournament a while back.
Driving through Haleiwa Town is always a fun thing to do! There's never a dull moment and it's always busy with tourists as well as the locals. The rustic ambiance and local style continues to linger on and it offers a nice selection of art galleries, surf shops and eateries. Be sure to stop by Matsumoto's and treat yourself to their famous "shave ice" topped with a scoop of ice cream and azuki beans. We didn't stop because the line was just too long and I didn't think I'd have the patience to wait. By the way, for those of you who do not know what shave ice is, it is a popular island version of a snow cone, topped with your choice of syrups; such as strawberry, root beer, vanilla or passion fruit. It's good stuff and simply ono!
We finally reach grandpa's house only to find that he's not home! Bummers...we stayed for awhile, hoping he may return. Seconds ticked away....minutes went by, and we decided to write him a note, letting him know that we'd stopped by and the shrimp plate is in the refrigerator. Making sure we locked the door up properly, we drive away and finally head home.
Next time around, we'll drive the other half of the islands!
and...I do mean Welcome! Selamat Datang! Aloha! I extend a warm welcome and am glad that you could stop by and read my blog. It simply contains general musings and ramblings about things that concern and/or interest me.
So kick back, click away and don't forget...enjoy your visit!
"So you want to know me? Romantic and logical ~ Loyal and always true ~ Funloving crazy and very quiet when needed ~
Sensible and down to earth...to sum it up, I guess I'm pretty much a "nice girl", hopefully in a good way, who's also a bit of a geek"
Here I am as perfect as I'm ever going to be.
You'll see, love me for me.
Stick around, I'm not the kind of girl you wanna leave.
You'll see, love me for me.
