I watched the pilot premiere of a new teen drama called Gossip Girl last night. There has been a lot of buzz everywhere about it so I figured I give it a try. It is the new CW show that pulls back the curtain on the lives of spoiled rich kids on the Upper East Side, Manhattan New York.
They are the pretty people, the party people, the people you want to be -- and their comings and goings are all documented by the watchful and anonymous internet blogger, Gossip Girl. Just from last night's pilot alone, there are plenty of betrayals, forbidden relationships, and mysterious intrigue to keep any young soap opera enthusiast (like me) engaged. In addition, it also featured music by Rihanna, Fergie, Justin Timberlake, the Mooney Suzuki, Hanson, Amy Winehouse, Angels & Airwaves and others.
It's not bad...it's like watching Beverly Hills 90210 all over again because it powered by the same style, torqued with melodrama and moved from sunshiny California to under the Big Apple's pewter skies. Will B and S remain best friends? I guess I'll have to continue watching each week to find out! There's an encore on Sunday night if you missed last night's premiere.
Oh yeah, Heroes returns next Monday (Yattaaaaa!!!!) and Smallville on Thursday, September 27 with a brand new season!
