"Back in Honolulu - part one"
Happy belated Thanksgiving day! Hope you had a good thanksgiving with plenty grinds to eat and managed to grab great bargains on Friday; the day after Thanksgiving!
We had a nice time in Maui; we couldn't ask for perfect weather as there was plenty sunshine and cool breezy tradewinds. We didn't miss the rain and draft as we heard it rained hard in Honolulu. So the bad weather forecast did come true after all and we were lucky to have not been a part of it.
Our flight was full, and there were some "happenings" which I will elaborate more in my next blog, but our visit in Maui was really quiet and relaxing as we spend most of our time at home with Ryan's parents. We had a feast on Thanksgiving day - roast turkey and gravy, stuffings, cranberries, potato salad, honey ham, and yam. We ate so much, had seconds and thirds and still had leftovers, which we had for dinner the next night. We stayed in; played "SORRY" with Ryan's mom and later watched "The Last Samurai" on DVD.
We got up at 4am Friday morning to go Walmart for the crazy after Thanksgiving Day sales. We got there and there was already a snake-like line from the entrance. I'm guessing people had started lining up since midnight or even earlier but there was a mad rush into the store when it opened at 6am. Our target were the electronics, toy and cookware departments to pickup the items on our list. Ryan went by the electronics to get our DVDs and me to the remaining depts for the rest of the items. We were half successful, as I wasn't able to get the pots and pans as they'd run out of it (three times walking down the aisles to find it's display and finally giving up). So I decided to go wait in line with the rest of the stuff that we managed to get from our list, while Ryan decides to go try one more time. He came back and in his hands were the set of pots and pans that we wanted.
What had happened was that he stood by the display aisle where the pots and pans were, trying to see if any were misplaced or displayed in another aisle. As he was about to come back to the registers, he saw a clerk asking another clerk where this item should be put back. What was the item? It was the pot set that we wanted. As she was heading to the display aisle, Ryan rushed in front of her and asked if it was still up for sale. She said yes as someone had changed their mind and decided not to get it. He asked if he could have it and she said sure, saving her from walking to the aisle to return it. So there you have it, we got everything we wanted on our list except for some DVDs just because they were in the standard format and not widescreen.
So this year was considered good as we didn't have to wait as much and we got everything we wanted. Last year at Kay-bee Toys was crazy and vowed to never do it again. Next year though, we will stay in Honolulu and have Ryan's parents come visit instead and try shopping in Honolulu instead. I heard it's far more worse!! We will have to wait and see.
Here are some pictures taken with Ryan's cat - "Tiger"
and...I do mean Welcome! Selamat Datang! Aloha! I extend a warm welcome and am glad that you could stop by and read my blog. It simply contains general musings and ramblings about things that concern and/or interest me.
So kick back, click away and don't forget...enjoy your visit!
"So you want to know me? Romantic and logical ~ Loyal and always true ~ Funloving crazy and very quiet when needed ~ Sensible and down to earth...to sum it up, I guess I'm pretty much a "nice girl", hopefully in a good way, who's also a bit of a geek"
Here I am as perfect as I'm ever going to be.
You'll see, love me for me.
Stick around, I'm not the kind of girl you wanna leave.
You'll see, love me for me.
