A venture out of Disneyland was very much needed. And that's what we did. We were on our way to another theme park to seek for more fun and entertainment. We arrive at Knott's Berry Farm just as they open their doors at 10am. It's considered as American's first theme park and home to world-class thrill rides & attractions, exciting shows and the very famous Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant. The park started way back in 1920 and features six uniquely themed areas; Old West Ghost Town, Camp Snoopy, Fiesta Village, Boardwalk, Indian Trails and Wild Water Wilderness, each presenting a taste of the Southern California experience.
My first ride of the day - the GhostRider. It's a large wooden roller coaster. It was alot of fun. It was neat that little part before the first lift hill. Whenever you think you are going into the station, you go around again. This ride is nice and long. I was constantly ducking my head down. Incredible Ride!!! Then, a bunch of us went to stand in line for the Stagecoach. You can either ride on top or inside a horse carriage and you go around the perimeter of Fiesta Village and Camp Snoopy. The other many interesting things I did include panning for gold at the Old Farm Mine, ate a yummy funnel cake with powdered sugar and boysenberry topping, got held up by a bandit aboard the train on Ghost Town Calico Railroad, and getting wet-in-the-tub splashfest on the Bigfoot Rapids.
Half the day has gone by and we are all hungry again! SH had made dinner reservations at the Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament. It's an exciting adventure that takes you back to the Middle Ages in an European style castle and you experience spectacular pageantry, dramatic horsemanship, breathtaking swordplay, falconry, sorcery and romance while feasting on a four-course banquet served in true medieval, pre-silverware fashion! You are seated in a certain color section (ours was stripped yellow & red) and it is your duty to root for the correct color team. We cheered hard for our brave knight as he competed in the various games of skill, hand to hand combat and the joust! The food was surprisingly good (I was really hungry and simply enjoyed getting my hands dirty) but the performance itself made the evening unforgettable!
Overall...I had an amazing time on this trip! Disneyland truly is the Happiest Place on Earth where it's just a great place to totally escape from reality for a while and all ages can enjoy equally. From the moment you walk through those gates, there is truly magic in the air. Your senses are overwhelmed with the sights, sounds and smells of Disneyland! I will always remember my first time meeting with Goofy and standing in line for my favorite rides; feeling excited as I inched closer with the anticipation of what my ride would be! I can't wait to go back soon!
