Gong Hay Fatt Choy!! May you have a happy and prosperous New Year! I've not celebrated this festive holiday in awhile being that I'm here on my own, away from my family who are all back in Malaysia. I miss the grand family reunion and a celebration dinner on the evening of the New Year's Eve; which usually features chicken, roast duck, fish, and dumplings stuffed with pork (yum!). I miss receiving my red "Lai-See" packets filled with money from relatives. I miss seeing the lion dance perfomance at a certain relative's home and the popping of the traditional red firecrackers. I miss decorating the house up with vases of pretty blossoms, platters of tangarines and on the walls and doors with happy wishes written on red paper. I miss it all. Gong Hay Fatt Choy again and celebrate it for the whole 15-days; ending it with the "Lantern Festival" on February 22, 2004.
