So here I am sitting by the computer, going through my list of Xmas songs to burn and browsing the web...I hear this loud "BANG" and thought someone was playing with firecrackers. We've had complaints in the last month or so about someone throwing or cracking loud firecrackers off our condo building so I didn't put much thought to it. I had the TV on in the other room as I was waiting for the 10pm NEWS on channel 2 and as their first live headline; shooting in Makiki. That got my attention so I rush out to see whereabouts in Makiki it was as that's my neighborhood. As the cameras zoomed onto the reporter, low and behold I see our condo building in the background. An elderly man was shot in the head. No suspects found. As soon as the story ended, I quickly went out to the lanai to see what's happening downstairs at the 3-storey walkup apartment and saw the parking area blocked with yellow tape, police, reporters and the nearby neighbors doing the same thing as I was. So much for the firecracker theory. I called Ryan to inform him of what's going on. I was shocked and so was he. I mean this is not the first time something's has happened at the apartment complex, but hey this is nothing compared to some couples' dispute or a rowdy neighbor fight. It gave me the chills, and I immediately deadbolted the front door being that I'm here all by myself. Towards the end of the news, they did another live update and found that the man died on the way to the hospital. That's so sad and never did imagine such a thing could happen in our neighborhood.
